Using NetValet

Overview

NetValet enables subscribers to take control of their GigaCenter service experience. NetValet is an intuitive, easy-to-use app that lets subscribers associate the app with their GigaCenter at home, set up their guest Wi-Fi, set policy management and parental controls, and monitor usage of their home network. The following sections provide steps for using NetValet.

 

Manage the Home Network

 

Set Up a Single SSID for Both 2.4 and 5 GHz Radios


To set up a single SSID for both 2.4 and 5 GHz radios, follow these steps:

 

  1. Go to the Main page.
  2. Tap Home Network.
  3. Tap Sync Wireless Radios until a green color is visible in the background of the toggle button.
  4. Tap the area next to the Name and enter a name for the SSID.
  5. Tap the area next to the Password and enter a password.
  6. Tap Done at the top right.

     

Set Up Separate SSIDs for 2.4 and 5 GHz Radios

 

To set up separate SSIDs for 2.4 and 5 GHz radios, follow these steps:

 

  1. Go to the Main page.
  2. Tap Home Network.
  3. Tap Sync Wireless Radios until only the white color is visible in the background of the toggle button.
  4. Under the 2.4 GHz Wireless section, tap on the area next to the Name and enter a name for the SSID for 2.4 GHz radio.
  5. Tap the area next to the Password and enter a password for 2.4 GHz radio.
  6. To activate the 2.4 GHz SSID, tap Active until green is visible in the background of the toggle button.
  7. To de-activate the 2.4 GHz SSID, tap Active until only white is visible in the background of the toggle button.
  8. Under the 5 GHz Wireless section, tap on the area next to the Name and enter a name for the SSID for 5 GHz radio.
  9. Tap the area next to Password and enter a password for 5 GHz radio.
  10. Tap Done at the top right.

Setup Guest Network

 

Set Up a Single Guest SSID for Both 2.4 and 5 GHz Radios

 

To set up a single guest SSID for both 2.4 and 5 GHz radios, follow these steps:

 

  1. Go to the Main page.
  2. Tap Guest Network.
  3. Tap Sync Wireless Radios until green is visible in the background of the toggle button.
  4. Tap the area next to the Name and enter a name for the SSID.
  5. Tap the area next to the Password and enter a password.
  6. Tap Done at the top right corner. 
  7. To activate the SSID, tap Active until green is visible in the background of the toggle button.
  8. To de-activate the SSID, tap Active until only white is visible in the background of the toggle button.

 

Set Up Separate Guest SSIDs for the 2.4 and 5 GHz Radios

 

To set up separate guest SSIDs for the 2.4 and 5 GHz radios, follow these steps:

 

  1. Go to the Main page.
  2. Tap Guest Network.
  3. Tap Sync Wireless Radios until only white is visible in the background of the toggle button.
  4. Under the 2.4 GHz Wireless section, tap the area next to the Name and enter a name for the SSID for 2.4 GHz radio.
  5. Tap the area next to Password and enter a password for 2.4 GHz radio.
  6. To activate the 2.4 GHz SSID, tap Active until green is visible in the background of the toggle button.
  7. To de-activate 2.4 GHz SSID, tap Active until only white is visible in the background of the toggle button.
  8. Under the 5 GHz Wireless section, tap the area next to Name and enter a name for the SSID for 5 GHz radio.
  9. Tap on the area next to the Password and enter a password for 5 GHz radio.
  10. To activate the 5 GHz SSID, tap Active until green is visible in the background of the toggle button.
  11. To de-activate the 5 GHz SSID, tap Active until only white is visible in the background of the toggle button.
  12. Tap Done at the top right.

Create Users

 

To create users, follow these steps:

 

  1. Go to the Main page.
  2. Tap Users.
  3. Tap Edit at the top right.
  4. Tap Add User at the bottom of the page.
  5. Enter a name in Enter User or Group Name.
  6. Tap Done at the top right.

 

Delete Users

 

To delete an existing user, follow these steps:

 

  1. Go to the Main page.
  2. Tap Users.
  3. Tap Edit at the top right.
  4. Tap the delete icon that appears in front of the user you want to delete.
  5. Tap Done at the top right.

     

View Users and Devices

 

To view all user and devices connected to the gateway, follow these steps:

 

  1. Go to the Main page.
  2. Tap Devices.
  3. Tap All Devices to view all the devices, including devices that have been associated with a user.
  4. Tap Not Assigned to view the devices that have not yet been associated with any user.
  5. From either view (All Devices and Not Assigned), tap any device to view more information about the device including its IP & MAC addresses. 

Associate Users with Devices

 

To associate users with devices, follow these steps:

 

  1. Go to the Main page.
  2. Tap Users.
  3. Tap the user to which you want to associate a device.
  4. Tap Edit at the top right.
  5. Tap Add Device at the bottom of the page.
  6. Tap the device(s) you want to associate with the user.

     

Create Access Policies

 

To create access policies, follow these steps:


1. Go to Main page.
2. Tap Access Policies.
3. Tap Edit at the top right.
4. Tap Add Access Policy at the bottom of the page.
5. Enter a policy name in Enter Policy Name.
6. Tap Days of Week to select the days of the week the policy will be in effect.
7. Tap Start Time to set the start time.
8. Tap End Time to set the end time.

 

Associate Users with Policies

 

To associate a user with an access policy, follow these steps:

 

  1. Go to the Main page.
  2. Tap Users.
  3. Tap Edit at the top right.
  4. Tap Policy.
  5. Tap one or more policies to associate with the user.
  6. Tap Done at the top right.

Delete Access Policies

 

To delete existing access policies, follow these steps:


1. Go to the Main page.
2. Tap Access Policies.
3. Tap Edit at the top right.
4. Tap the policy to delete it.
5. Tap Done at the top right.

 

Re-associate Devices

 

To re-associate devices with NetValet, follow these steps:


1. Go to the Main page.
2. Tap the menu in the upper left.
3. Tap Re-Associate Device.
4. Scan the QR Code of the new device.
