RF Connectors May Become Hot to the Touch

Under certain conditions, the RF connector on the ONT Main Electronics Module of P-Series 700, 700G, 700GX, 700GE, and 76xGX ONTs may become hot to the touch. These conditions include:

  • Relatively high external ambient temperatures that cause an elevated temperature inside the enclosure.
  • Instances where the RF circuit is in constant use and has been "on" for a long period of time.

Note: Indoor ONTs do not experience this issue since the ambient temperature surrounding the unit provides a cooling effect.

From a best practices perspective, Calix recommends always wearing gloves or using insulated tools when working with RF connectors inside P-Series SFU and MDU ONTs.
